Health Unit Guidance Update
Dear Lakehead Public Schools Families and Staff,
We are excited to welcome you back to the new school year.
We wish to share with you the latest guidance from the Thunder Bay District Health Unit (TBDHU) relating to a healthy back to school for all members of our school communities.
Important key messages for parents, guardians, and staff to consider are:
- Stay home if you are sick. If a student or staff member is sick, they must stay home and not attend school until they have no fever and symptoms are improving for at least 24 hours (or 48 hours for gastro-intestinal symptoms).
- Take precautions upon your return to school after an illness. Students and staff should complete the screening tool and follow the recommendations, which may include:
-Staying home until you have no fever and symptoms are improving for at least 24 hours (or 48 hours for gastro-intestinal symptoms).
-When symptoms improve, continuing to wear a mask when out in public (including schools) for 10 days from when symptoms started.
Our schools will remain mask friendly. Please help create respectful, welcoming, inclusive environments for individuals who choose to wear, or not to wear a mask within a school community.

We look forward to keeping open channels of communication with families and staff to keep the members of our school communities safe and healthy at school.
Thank you for your continued cooperation.
